Welcome to John Yehall Chin Elementary School

John Yehall Chin parents love our small, welcoming school and the well-rounded education we provide their students. Being efficient and productive are the two attributes that we treasure the most here. We fully realize and accept without angst the importance of state mandated assessments. We believe in creating a learning environment that fosters caring and innovation so that our students are thirsting to transform our world. Our teachers possess a deep knowledge of their content areas and current research on human development to effectively teach all learners. We believe in using technology, as well as maintaining the all-important human touch, to communicate clearly and frequently with families.

Monthly programs such as the Wells Fargo Bank Savings Program, the School Spirits Store, and weekly programs such as the School Pride Tickets, and the Lily Cai Chinese Cultural Dance Program are just some of the unique opportunities that our students and families all love.

All students must register with the district for lunches.

You can fill out the Online Meal Application at: https://schoolmealapp.sfusd.edu/

Congratulations to the JYC community!

Once again, we have received the Distinguished School Award.

Thanks to everyone who makes this school great!

Our school day will begin promptly at 9:25am and it will end promptly 3:35pm daily.  All students should arrive at school between 8:45am and 9:25am when we have staff supervising in the school yard.  For the sake of student safety, do not drop off your child before 8:45am.  We can not take student safety for granted.

Here at JYC, students have their lunch recess before having lunch.  This practice has helped in cutting down instances of students not eating their lunches because they are rushing out to the playground or instances of students complaining of stomach discomfort after lunch.  Lower Grade (K-2) lunches will be served from 12:20-12:50pm.  Upper Grade (3-5) lunches will be served from 12:50-1:10pm.

We are requesting that all students wear school uniform Monday through Thursday.  Friday is a "free dress" day at JYC.  The school uniform consists of a white shirt or blouse and navy pants.  Girls may wear a navy blue jumper.  The "brand" of the uniform does not matter.  School uniforms may be purchased at many department stores.  If you would like, JYC has long-sleeve blue sweatshirts ($18.00) available for purchase.  The sweatshirt will suffice as school uniform.

The JYC After-School program will begin on the first day of school.
